How can I find (or buy) a variety of custom controls for various
applications that look better than the standard NI controls.

This is very easy to do in labview. The way that you do it is by double
clicking the control. This will bring up the customize window and from
there you can make it look like you want it to by inserting pictures
into the control of the way you want it to look at each state. Look at
the shipping examples that come with labview and experiment with this
a little bit. It makes for a great GUI feature when you do this.

Hope this helps

All of the above is excellent advice on custom controls in LabVIEW.
National Instruments also has an Application Note located here, <a

Custom Controls, Indicators, and Type Definitions</a>. Check this out
for more information about creating your own custom controls.

In terms of finding custom controls already created, do a Google
search. You should be able to find quite a few websites that have
custom controls for free. It's just a matter of finding the one that
fits your needs.

The Application Note on Custom Controls is most helpful - thank you
also.
