incorporate compiled c into vi's to run in rtos

How does one take c code, compile it, put the code in a LabView vi and prepare that vi to run in compact rio or the new rio development environment. 
 
If we put the code into the vi using the dll process...I understand that it may not run in the real time environment.
 
Any suggestions on how this might work best.
