Labview 5.1.1 and Labwindows/CVI 7.0 on the same machine

Hi

I have a problem when i try to install LabWindows/CVI 7.0 on a machine that
already has Labview 5.1.1 installed. Then labview 5.1.1 stops to work, im
not sure if its the drivers that doesn't match or if Labwindows overwrites
some of the Labview libs.

Has anyone here any experiences with this?

Would it help if I upgrade to a newer version of Labview if it's a driver
problem?

Thanks

Hello –

Upgrading to a newer version of LabVIEW would definitely be the best
way to go. You would have the latest drivers that support the latest
features on both, LabVIEW and CVI.

However, you should be able to have CVI 7.0 and LabVIEW 5.1.1 in the
same machine without any problems.
Try installing CVI first. Do a custom install, without any drivers.
Then, install LabVIEW including the drivers support for both, LabVIEW
and CVI.

Hope this helps!

Hi again

And thanks for the tip.

But I didn't find a way to make it work. For Labview 5.1.1 I use NI-DAQ
version 6.8 and it doesn't support Labwindows CVI. My Labwindows application
requires NI-DAQmx and the drivers that came with Labwindows doesn't support
Labview older than 6i.

So I think my solution will be either to install one of the programs on
windows 98 and the other on windows 2000 or use a harddisktray and switch
between 2 harddisks.

I am sorry; I did not realize you were using NI-DAQmx in the
Labwindows/CVI application.
In this scenario, the best thing to do is to upgrade to a newer
version of LabVIEW!

…Or, as you mentioned, to install the software in different OSes.
